About

Bit of a background about me:
I’m Simon, living in Perth and a student at Curtin University studying Digital Design/Internet commmunications double degree. Some activities I do enjoy are playing basketball, jamming on the guitar and jamming with my band.

I love Rock, Punk, Metal, 80’s Rock/Pop and some alternative/softer music. I really dislike today’s mainstream music on the radio such radio stations in Perth would be 92.9 & 93.7. Yes I’m at mainstreamer music hater. So If you love mainstream radio you should stop and cut off all ties with me right now. Anyhow back to the radio I’ll shuffle around the Perth radio stations 92.1, 94.5, 96.1, 98.5 and maybe Triple J if I’m not listening to my ipod.

This blog will be about me previewing, reviewing and just talking about the music scene and news that I find are exciting and need to be talked about. To give you idea what kind of possible music I will/may be covering, below is a list of some kickass bands I listen too. It’s quiet a range of genres so I’ll guess I’ll be blogging whenever I can.

I’ll also like to thank

  1. Respecting and appreciating a non-mainstream musical platform! I dont know too much about the bands you have mentioned but when i was living in England i saw ‘Kill Switch Engaged’ live and ‘The Used’. Blew my mind! I would be interested on your thought about these two bands and if you would say they have become mainstream due to there popularity of recent years?

  2. they are both popular bands indeed and I can say Killswtich engage is a pretty kickass band. The used I have listened to one of their albums but was not too keen on them. Anyhow they would not be classified as mainstream music because mainstream music would never play that sort of genre of music on mainstream radio. Perth’s mainstream radio stations are 92.9 and 93.7 that play only mainly poppy / friendly songs.

Meanwhile Killswitch and used are not poppy songs and are classifed as Metalcore and Post-Hardcore bands which would be too rough for mainstream listeners. Furthermore I don’t think they will ever play that genre of music on radio ever.
